What you need to know to get the right prop
First Choice Marine is proud to carry Solas Props along with many other top brands including Michigan Wheel, Turning Point, Mercury Marine and others. Our Prop Finder is an easy to use tool to select the right Solas Prop for your engine application and performance requirements.
What information do I need to use a prop finder?
Most prop finders (depending on brand) require that you have the engine manufacturer, the horsepower and model and the year of the engine to locate the correct prop for the engine.
In addition, you will need to make decisions on whether you want aluminum or stainless, a right or left hand rotation prop and 3 or 4 blades. You will also need to determine the diameter (measure from center to edge of one blade and multiply by two) and the desired pitch.
What if I am unsure of my engine information?
Contacting the engine manufacturer with the engine serial number should get you the information you need in regards to model information and the year of the engine.
What if I don’t know if I need a 3- or 4-blade or don’t know the desired pitch?
To make the process easier for our customers we have provided resources on our site at to insure the customer has gathered the details needed (such as number of blades, pitch, and diameter) for correct prop selection.Our resources include Propeller Basics – information critical in determining correct prop selection and Choosing the Right Propeller – an informative article on choosing the prop to meet the needs and application.
Where can I locate the hardware I need for my prop?
The prop finder will also list the corresponding hardware you might need for a particular prop when it returns the selection based on your information.
If I get the wrong prop, can I return it?
Always refer to our return policies for specific product information. Propellers: Props that have been installed are not returnable. Boat Propellers can be a little difficult to look up and source. That is why we have provided the Solas Prop Finder to assist you in selecting the correct propeller to fit your application. Special order props are not returnable. The only exceptions are unless they are defective and under warranty.
